LWB bails out Bwaila Hospital with water tank

Maternal health challenges, compounded by water scarcity, at Bwaila Hospital will now be history following the hand over of a water tank to the facility by the Lilongwe Water Board (LWB).

Director of Health Services for Bwaila Hospital, Dr Wilson Ching’ani, said the hospital has for a long time needed an improved water infrastructure to support the 60 to 70 daily deliveries at the facility.

Minister of Water and Sanitation, Abida Mia, has since emphasized the importance of sustainable water provision to hospitals to promote maternal health.

The water tank has the capacity to hold 1 million litres.
