SPRODETA donates food items to Nkhatabay flood survivors

Small Producers Development and Transporters Association (SPRODETA) on Tuesday donated assorted relief food items to people affected by this year’s floods in Nkhata-Bay in a bid to put them back on their feet.

SPRODETA’s Project Coordinator, Daniel Nyirenda, said the humanitarian assistance was part of their emergency project in response to the floods that hit the district in April this year, rendering some people destitute.

“We have already reached out to 500 households in this first phase of distribution and our target is to reach out to 3000 households,” Nyirenda said.

Traditional Authority Thula hailed the government for allowing SPRODETA to help them with the relief items and urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the donation.

At the moment, SPRODETA is stretching a helping hand to the elderly, people with disabilities and lactating and expectant women.

Some of the donated items includee 20 Kilograms of maize, three Kilograms of rice, two kilograms of beans, one kilogram of salt, and two tablets of soap.
