Police arrests woman for allegedly killing own unborn child

Police in Lumbadzi have arrested Mariam Sanudi on suspicion that she killed her unborn child.

The spokesperson for Lumbadzi Police, Felix Kwinyani, said Sanudi committed the crime when she was eight months pregnant.

Kwinyani stated that the woman allegedly dumped the corpse of the child in Lumbadzi River and the community reported the matter to the law enforcers.

Postmortem results from Lumbadzi Health Centre indicated that the death of the child was caused by forced labour.

Sanudi, 34, hails from Chengondo Village, Traditional Authority Kasumbu in Dedza.
