Players in the water sector discuss non-revenue water

Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation, Elias Chimulambe, has called on players in the water sector to address the challenges of Non-Revenue Water (NRW).

Chimulambe was speaking in Blantyre during when opening a 4th National Workshop to discuss NRW, with financial support from JICA.

He said NRW is a huge challenge in Malawi and has a negative bearing on the national economy.

The workshop has attracted delegates from the Ministry of Water, water boards, water users associations, Water Services Associations in Malawi, National Water Resources Authority, among others.

A third workshop was held in Zomba last year where delegates met with a view of strengthening capacity to reduce NWR at Lilongwe and Blantyre water boards, Southern, Central and Northern Region water boards.
