Ministry urged to be vigilant on monitoring of construction works

Only 12 out of 62 Police Staff Houses being constructed in Kasungu District have been completed, which has riled authorities.

The 12 completed houses were handled by Melatone Construction Company while the 50 houses yet to be completed are under Nangaunozge Building Contractors and have already gone past the agreed time frame.

This transpired when the Parliamentary Committee on Infrastructure Development, together with the Ministry of Lands, inspected the site to appreciate progress made.

Enock Phale, the Chairperson of the Committee, then urged the Ministry to be vigilant with its inspection interventions on construction projects.

The Ministry’s infrastructure management Unit Chief Quantity Surveyor, Atusaye Munkhondya, said they have resolved challenges that were being encountered and expressed hope of speedy completion of the project.
