MRA touts Blantyre Centre on exports revenue

The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) says their Blantyre Inland Examination Centre has helped increase revenue collection on imports.

This has been disclosed by the Centre’s Manager, Moses Masina, during a media familiarisation tour of the facility.

The centre handles examination of containerized imports, whose containers are electronically sealed after initial checks at Mwanza border.

Masina indicates that they are able to check technical smuggling, which has seen increased interceptions, leading to high collections.
