The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has unveiled Stewart Mwase as its candidate for Mwansa Ward By-Election in Mangochi slated for September 26, this year.
Mwase was unveiled during MCP’s official campaign launch in Mangochi.
In his remarks, MCP Secretary General, Eisenhower Mkaka, assured the gathering that government is aware of the challenges people in Mangochi are facing and is working hand-in-hand with officials in the district to mitigate their impact.
He cited projects lined up such as road network upgrades and scaling out electricity connectivity among others.
“The MCP Councillor in your area is the one who will facilitate the development you want, this is why you should vote for him come September,” said Mkaka.
Speaking earlier, MCP Campaign Director, Moses Kunkuyu, assured the gathering that Mwase will complement government efforts in spearheading President Dr Lazarus Chakwera’s campaign promises in the district.
Minister of Local Government, Richard Chimwendo Banda, said his ministry is aware that the people of M’baluku (where the rally took place) need street lights, especially at the Bakili Muluzi Bridge. He has since assured the people that Mangochi District Council will fast-track the process to safeguard users who have been subjected to attacks recently.
Mwansa Ward will go to polls following the death of Edina Yusuf, who until her death was a councillor for the area.
