MCHA warns students of scammers

Malawi College of Health Sciences (MCHS) has warned students to be on high alert following a fake accommodation form making rounds on social media targeting new college entrants.

First-year students at the institution’s campuses are scheduled to start classes on May 27 but according to the Dean of Students for Blantyre campus, Odala Dzinjalamala, some students have already fallen victim to the crooked schemes.

“We have some of the fake accommodation forms at the office from some students who claim they have already paid,” she says.

She has since appealed to fresh men to exercise caution when they are applying for accommodation at the various institution campuses.

“The two forms are distinct. The fake one has a bigger font, two MCHS logos and phone numbers. However, the original one is the opposite of all this. We also use bank accounts and not mobile money services,” said Dzinjalamala.
