The Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) says it has stepped up efforts to ensure that quality standards are fully embraced by both consumers and providers of goods and services in the country.
Director of Quality Assurance Services at MBS, Grace Chaonamwene Mereka,
said this in Mzuzu during the 2024 quality certification award ceremony for companies based in the Northern Region.
Some of the awardees received new certifications while others such as Chibuku Products Limited, Kwithu Kitchen, and Bread talk received renewal certificates for their consistency in adhering to standards.
Patrick Dzanja, the Operations Manager for the Northern Region at Chibuku Products Limited, hailed MBS for its strict enforcement of quality standards, stating that this ensures competitiveness and encourages service providers and manufacturers to offer high-quality services and products on the market.
MBS is warning that any company found not producing high-quality products risks having its quality certificate revoked.
