Malawi to have National Communication policy

The Ministry of Information says it will soon come up with a National Government Communication Policy to coordinate and guide all communications in the country.

Principal Secretary for Information and Digitalisation, Baldwin Chiyamwaka, was speaking in Mangochi during this year’s World Press Freedom Day panel discussion.

Chiyamwaka added that the best policies come from the people hence encouraging journalists and the public to demand for policies that they need.

Media Council of Malawi (MCM) president, Jolly Ntaba, said lack of economic motivation impacts negatively journalists’ performance.

He has since encouraged employers to consider improving the welfare of journalists.

This year’s World Press freedom panel discussion was conducted under the theme “Guardians of democracy: championing media independence for free and credible elections.”
