Malawi to celebrate its first World Creativity and Innovations Day

The Department of Innovations and Creativity says it will hold the World Creativity and Innovations Day celebrations on 30 April 2024 under the theme “Step out, Create and Innovate for the Malawi We Want”.

This will be the first celebration and it aims at raising awareness of the role of innovations in the socio-economic development of the country.

Milca Manyozo, the department’s spokesperson said this comes as Malawi’s innovation ecosystem is weak and uncoordinated evidenced by low productivity and commercialisation of innovative activities.

Manyozo said the commemorations will potentially provide long-term positive changes and nurture a creative culture and increase its visibility.

President Chakwera is poised to lead the nation in the celebrations which will be held at the Bingu International Conference Centre in Lilongwe.
