Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) is gearing up for house and property numbering in Nkhata Bay as part of the ongoing National Addressing System (NAS) project being implemented across the country.
Bright Sonani, MACRA Communications Manager, announced the readiness of the initiative during NAS sensitisation meeting with faith and traditional leaders in the district.
According to Sonani, the project team will be on the ground soon.
Nkhata Bay District Council Principal Administration Officer Moses Jere said the project is critical to development, pointing out that it will improve service delivery and bring timely response to emergencies.
Senior chief Nkumbira hailed MACRA for the initiative, noting that it will act as a wake up call for Nkhata Bay residents and chiefs to start building and allocating plots in line with the development plans of the district.
