Macra engages Mzimba religious, traditional leaders on National Addressing System

The Malawi Communications and Regulatory Authority (Macra) says the introduction of of the National Addressing System (NAS) in Malawi will ease challenges associated with identification of houses and streets.

Macra communications manager Bright Sonani made the remarks in Mzimba on Monday during a sensitisation meeting with religious and traditional leaders.

Acting Director of Administration at Mmbelwa District Council Viston Mulungu emphasised the importance of religious and traditional leaders in the NAS project, given their influence in communities.

Sonani said the meeting comes as Macra intends to start house numbering exercise soon.

He further said Malawi for a long time lagged behind in terms of a robust addressing system resulting in a host of problems in terms of location and identification of streets and houses.
