LCC SET TO LAUNCH TREE PLANTING CAMPAIGN

The Lilongwe City Council (LCC) is gearing up to inaugurate its much-anticipated Tree Planting Season, commencing this weekend on January 26, 2024.

According to Dr. Macloud Kadam’manja, Chief Executive Officer of the Council, this initiative is a pivotal component of the overarching “Greening Lilongwe City Campaign.”

The symbolic kick-off will unfold at the Area 18 Interchange, graced by the notable presence of City Mayor Richard Banda.

In a statement, Kadam’manja outlined the logistics for tree enthusiasts and participants, specifying that saplings will be available at the Area 13 nursery’s parks and environment offices.

This follows the national tree planting season’s formal inauguration by State President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera on January 18, 2024, in Phalombe District.
