Minister of Tourism, Vera Kamtukule, has stressed the importance of promoting a positive image of Malawi to attract more foreign tourists.
Kamtukule highlighted that uplifting narratives about the country’s culture, heritage, and natural beauty can significantly contribute to its tourism growth.
She said this in Blantyre on Friday at the Nkhani Za Moyo event, a gathering to reflect Malawi’s collective identity through storytelling.
“Positive stories have the power to woo people from outside to come and appreciate our rich culture, heritage and breathtaking natural beauty,” Kamtukule said.
The event brought together various artists including Lawi and Patience Namadingo who shared their own stories and experiences that reflect Malawi’s rich cultural tapestry.
