Junior staff warned against corruption

Nkhata Bay District Commissioner, Rodgers Newa, has warned junior staff at the council against exploitation in the course of duty.

Newa gave the warning on Wednesday when opening a two-day junior staff meeting organised by the Institutional Integrity Committee (ICC) aimed at educating and empowering them on the importance of institutional integrity so that they can contribute to a corruption-free work environment.

According to Newa, the council established the ICC to safeguard finances and materials, ensure transparency and accountability among others and was glad that the committee is serving its purpose.

”Corruption issues affect everyone. If you suspect or witness suspicious activities blow the whistle to the committee and confidentiality is guaranteed,” he added.

Security Guard at Education Department, Ken Chulu, commended the council for the meeting as they have been enlightened on a number of things that will ease their work.
