Ireland commits to Malawi food aid

President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has shared Malawi’s vision on food security, mega farms and irrigation farming to Ireland President, Michael Higgins, in New York, USA.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nancy Tembo, has confirmed this.

“President Chakwera shared his ideas on food security and a vision for Malawi, emphasising on irrigation using mega farms to make Malawi food secure all year round,” she said.

President Higgins hailed President Chakwera’s vision of enhancing irrigation farming, as a solution to food insecurity.

He said Africa has resources enough to make a food sufficient continent.

President Chakwera also had discussions with African Development Bank Group President, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina and donors, potential investors and heads of international institutions that expressed interest to support Malawi’s development agenda.
