Prime Minister of Iceland Bjarni Benediktsson has arrived in the country for a five–day working visit.
Benediktsson arrived through Kamuzu International Airport where he was welcomed by Vice President Dr Saulos Chilima and other Malawi Government officials
Upon arrival, the visiting Prime Minister was entertained to some traditional dances.
While in the country, Benediktsson is expected to pay a courtesy call on President Dr Lazarus Chakwera and hold bilateral talks with the Malawi leader.
He is also expected to appreciate a number of projects funded by the Government of Iceland.
Since 1989 when the development cooperation between Malawi and Iceland started, the Governmentof Iceland has supported Malawi in basic services such as health, education, water and sanitation, with Mangochi as one of the districts which has received the support.
The Government of Iceland says their overall goal is to help reduce poverty, hunger underpinned by the desire to spur achievement of Sustainable Development Goals.
