Grain bank initiative can alleviate food insecurity — Nyanya

Group Village Headperson Nyanya of Senior Chief Kaphuka believes the concept of grain bank as viable means of reducing family challenges.

The group village headman said the initiative is supporting his subjects to have food all year round.

Recently, members of Nyanga Grain Bank shared 600 bags of maize and 40 bags of beans.

Secretary of the group, Elifa Sementi, said the grain bank was established from the outcome of Village savings and Loan group in 2010.

Self Help Africa Dedza Food Security and Resilient Coordinator, Barton Mwale, said they also supported the group to build capacity and with farm inputs.

Dedza has over 50 grain banks.
