First Lady to amplify voices in ending TB

First Lady Madam Monica Chakwera is expected to host a high level breakfast on amplifying the missing voices on ending Tuberculosis (TB) in Malawi at Kamuzu Palace on Monday next week.

Michael Mkandawire, Chief Executive Officer for Shaping Our Future Foundation and the Chief Advisor to the First Lady said this on Friday in Lilongwe at a Press Briefing.

He said this will be held on the side-lines of a Global Fund Meeting that will be taking place in the country.

Mkandawire said Madam Chakwera aims to use the platform to connect with TB survivors, offering support and encouraging them to share their experiences, as they are often marginalised.

The First Lady became the Ambassador for Ending TB in Malawi and the SADC region in September 2023.

TB is the second infectious disease that affects and kills millions of people across the globe on annual basis. There are efforts underway to ensure the disease ends come 2030.
