Two ex-convicts, Davie Zaipa and Mzee Halid Bakali, have been arrested by Police in Mangochi on suspicion that they stole a motorcycle, three cellphones and other valuables worth K1.5 million from Idrissa Rajab’s residence, who was away for morning prayers.
According to Police spokesperson Amina Tepani Daudi, the duo was intercepted at Chimwala Roadblock in the morning of March 15.
Although they have been caught, Daudi said that some of the stolen items are still missing.
The suspects will answer charges of burglary and theft.
Zaipa comes from Chimwala Village, Traditional Authority Chikumbu in Mulanje District while Bakali is from Musumba Village, Traditional Authority Mankhambira in Nkhata-Bay.
