ERFA to enforce mandatory age verification

Eastern Region Football Association (ERFA) says it has scheduled a compulsory age verification exercise for all teams in the Durata Regional Division League Two.

The screening will take place on 1 and 2 August 2026.

ERFA General Secretary Elia Nyirongo confirmed that verification will be conducted at designated venues across the region.

Nyirongo: Everyone should attend the exercise

Nyirongo also warned that any player who fails to complete the age verification will be barred from competing in the Durata Regional Division League Two this season.

“To successfully complete the verification, all players must present one of the following valid identification documents: National Identity Card, MANEB ID, or passport,” Nyirongo said.

Football administrator Christopher Njeula stressed the importance of such measures.

Njeula: Modern football is structured

He said modern football is structured, and age management is crucial in ensuring a sustainable future for the game.

“Verifications of this nature are not only important, but necessary if we are to develop the game at all levels,” Njeula said.

ERFA covers the districts of Mangochi, Balaka, Machinga, Zomba and Phalombe.
