National Statistical Office (NSO) has emphasised the need to have data on the well-being of Malawians to achieve the nation’s development goals.
NSO Commissioner, Shelton Kanyanda, said this on Tuesday in Blantyre during a joint supervision of the 2024 Malawi Demographic Health Survey.
UNFPA Country Representative, Nelida Rodrigues, said demographic surveys have the potential to assist the government in making informed decisions on developmental issues.
The 2024 Malawi Demographic Health Survey started on 13 May 2024 and is expected to end in August this year and focuses on population, health and Gender-Based Violence among others.
The joint supervision meeting of the survey brought together government officials, UN donor partners such as UNICEF and UNFPA and NSO.
