Chithyola confident that economy will stabilise

Finance Minister Simplex Chithyola Banda has urged Malawians to support President Dr Lazarus Chakwera, stressing that despite some challenges, the economy is improving.

According to Banda, Malawi currently has enough foreign currency flow and fuel in all filling stations, which he says signals economic recovery.

Speaking at Mvama Primary School in Lilongwe during the presentation of the Jiya Football and Netball trophies valued at K10 million, Banda also assured the public that the government will ensure that the social cash transfer initiative reaches both rural and urban areas.

Member of Parliament for Lilongwe City Centre, Alfred Jiya, commended President Chakwera for the developments in the constituency and the country.

He also believes the participation of various contenders in MCP positions is a sign of the party’s commitment to democratic principles.

Patrick Zebron Chilondola, Malawi Congress Party Regional Chairperson for the Centre, said the party’s ability to attract more members is because its leadership advocates genuine democracy.

The rally was attended by several members of Parliament, MCP supporters and local chiefs.
