Minister of Water & Sanitation, Abida Mia, has urged Muslim women to play a leading role in promoting girls’ education.
Mia said this at Kanjedza Primary School Ground where 2000 women gathered for Dawa, a meeting where Muslims support each other on various matters.
“Let’s ensure we’re encouraging our children, particularly girls, to attend school. We should all be advocates for education because it is crucial for a better future,” Mia said.
Additionally, she provided guidance to the women on how to care for their families.
During the event, Mia, in collaboration with the international charity organisation Faizan Global Relief Foundation (FGRF), donated food and other essentials to the women.
Muhammad Suleiman, a board member of FGRF, said the donation is part of their annual initiative to support women in need.
The recipients of the donation are from various townships within Blantyre.
