Chilima leaves for Tanzania

Vice President, Dr Saulos Chilima, has left the country for the United Republic of Tanzania where he is expected to attend the 60th Anniversary of the Union Day of the United Republic of Tanzania in Dar e Salaam on Friday.

He is accompanied on the trip by the Minister of Local Government, Richard Chimwendo Banda.

They departed through the Kamuzu International Airport.

President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has delegated the Vice President to represent Malawi at the ceremony following an invitation from Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Information, the delegation is a sign of a cordial relationship between the President and the Vice president.

The statement says the president will continue to acknowledge the vice  president since, according to the law, everyone is innocent until proven guilty by a fair trial and independent court of law.

The Vice President is expected to return on  Saturday 27 April,2024.
