President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has departed Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) in Lilongwe for Blantyre where he is expected to attend the Seventh Day Adventist Church Blantyre Centenary Celebrations.
According to a statement from the office of the President and Cabinet, President Chakwera is expected to be at the venue for the celebrations, Mjamba Freedom Park, at 8:30 am.
The centenary celebrations at Mjamba Freedom Park follow Chiwembe SDA Church’s work of spreading the gospel in Blantyre and surrounding districts in the past 100 years.
As part of these celebrations, Pastor Daniel Chuunga from Zambia has been holding evangelistic effort meetings where 2400 people have already been baptised.
The President was seen off at KIA by Minister of Lands, Deus Gumba, Regional Chairperson (Centre) of Malawi Congress Party, Patrick Zebron Chilondola, government and party officials.
