President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has called on developed nations and financiers to cancel the debts of poor countries to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Dr Chakwera made the call when he addressed the United Nations General Assembly in New York, United States of America.
He said much as Malawi is doing everything possible to achieve the goals, climate change effects such as cyclones have slowed down the progress.
The Malawi leader then asked world leaders, including developed nations and financiers to make firm decisions and actions on climate financing.
The President said Malawi is committed to implementing reforms and policies that build economic resilience against shocks.
