President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has today joined President Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi at the Egypt International Conventional Centre to attend the Presidential Summit of Intra-Africa Trade Fair (IATF) 2023.
Malawi has featured highly at the IATF 2023 which is at its peak today as the country continues to strategically position herself as a key investment and trade destination of choice in Africa and on the global scene.
The fair, which is being hosted by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) in collaboration with the African Union (AU) and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) secretariat in Cairo, Egypt, has allowed Africa-based businesses to forge new relationships and business opportunities to stimulate Intra-Africa Trade whose volume, currently, remains low.
At IATF 2023, $43 billion worth of trade and investment deals (almost four times the size of the Malawi economy) are expected to close.
The fair has attracted 75 participating countries, 1600 business exhibitors, entrepreneurs, investors, financiers and over 35,000 buyers and visitors.
The continental trade fair has brought under one roof, a diverse range of businesses, government officials, investors, multisectoral players and trade experts, who are keen to promote intra-African trade and foster economic integration among African countries.
