Chakwera leaves Namibia

President Dr Lazarus Chakwera and the First Lady Madam Monica Chakwera have left Windhoek, Namibia for Malawi after attending the burial ceremony of late Namibian president Hage Geingob.

Speaking to the media on departure in Windhoek, Dr Chakwera said the state funeral in Namibia brought to the fore the unity that exists in the region and beyond.

He said having over 40 heads of state in attendance clearly showed the quality of a man that Dr Geingob was.

He said the death of Dr Geingob has also highlighted how democracy is maturing in the SADC region and Africa as a whole, looking at the smooth transfer of power in Namibia.

He said while at the funeral, he also had a chance to engage other leaders on various issues.
