President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has expressed gratitude to the United States of America for entrusting the country with development projects that are worth $350 million.
The President was speaking at the launch of Millennium Challenge Account II, which is focusing on transport and land.
Dr Chakwera said the 245-kilometer road investment funded by US government will benefit generations of Malawians for years to come.
Millennium Challenge Corporation Chief Executive Officer, Alice Albright, said the US is impressed with the Malawi compact II as it seeks to benefit more than 5.7 million people, which is a quarter of the population.
Albright indicated that the Millennium Challenge compacts stand committed to improving the livelihoods of people.
She said the Malawi government is part of history through the arrangement, having also participated in the first compact.
