President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has arrived in Rome, Italy, ahead of his official engagements in Vatican City and Rome.
Upon his arrival at Rome’s military airport, he was welcomed by Monsignor Javier Fernandez, Head of Protocol for the Vatican, Malawi’s Ambassador to the Vatican, Joseph Mpinganjira, and Malawi’s Envoy to Italy, Naomi Ngwira.
Dr Chakwera is visiting Italy at the invitation of the Head of the Catholic Church and leader of Vatican City.
In addition to holding discussions with the Pope in the Vatican, he will also meet with the Head of the Community of Sant’Egidio, an organisation supported by the Italian Government, and the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) in Rome, Italy.
