President Joe Biden of the United States has called on global leaders to intensify efforts in addressing the rising influx of drugs to protect citizens worldwide.
Speaking at the Global Coalition to Address Synthetic Drug Threats summit on Tuesday, President Biden, alongside leaders such as Malawi’s President Dr Lazarus Chakwera, urged for a united front in the fight against drug trafficking.
“The coalition has grown to include 158 countries and 15 international organisations, with 11 core countries announcing new initiatives to advance the coalition’s work,” Biden said
The coalition was launched by President Biden in June 2023 to tackle the synthetic drug crisis.
