Bangwe All Stars on Saturday received pledges exceeding K16 million during the club’s fundraising dinner and dance in Blantyre.
The club’s board secretary, Fadweck Matemba, pledged the largest sum of K5 million.
On the other hand, Football Association of Malawi president Fleetwood Haiya and his wife pledged a K3 million while Super League of Malawi president Gilbert Mitawa committed to support the club with K1 million.
The club also unveiled its 2024 jersey, which fetched K500,000 from highest bidder, Haiya. Mitawa got it at
K350,000.
The event was part of the club’s efforts to raise K75 million for the forthcoming 2024 season which starts on March 30.
