MUST, Kweza to promote arts sector

Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) has formalised its partnership with Kweza Arts by signing a Memorandum of Understanding which seeks to promote the creative and heritage industry.

Vice Chancellor for MUST, Professor Address Malata, said the creative industry is key in promoting cultural economy which is paramount for Malawi 2063, hence the partnership.

Malata said the partnership is under MUST’s Bingu School of Arts and Heritage.

“We believe the academia can work hand-in-hand with the creative industry to promote arts and culture so that the country can benefit more from the sector. We bring the in the theory and methodology on the board whilst Kweza brings in the practical experience,” she said.

Founder of Kweza Arts, Q Malewezi, described the partnership as timely for the growth of the industry.

“We are looking forward to change the face of the Arts industry through this partnership with the academia,” Malewezi said.
