76th Blantyre Derby Set for Kamuzu Stadium

The clock is ticking for the much-anticipated 76th Blantyre Derby between Mighty Mukuru Wanderers and FCB Nyasa Big Bullets in the round of 16 of the FDH Bank Cup at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre this afternoon.

Bullets are the defending champions, while the Nomads were booted out in the semifinals last year.

Historically, Bullets have been dominant over Wanderers, winning five semifinals in previous football seasons across different cup competitions.

In a pre-match interview, Bullets coach Kalisto Pasuwa said he is still working on the inconsistency, as the team has been in poor form in the TNM Super League.

Bullets reached the round of 16 after beating Bangwe All Stars 5-0 in the round of 32, while Wanderers made it following their 3-0 win over Cobbe Barracks.

Wanderers’ caretaker coach Meke Mwase described the upcoming fixture as tricky but said his team is ready.

Wanderers’ last cup victory against Bullets was a 5-4 win on penalties in the 2022 Airtel Top 8 final.
