31st Public-Private Dialogue in Mzuzu calls for urgent action on key projects

The 31st Public-Private Dialogue forum in Mzuzu has echoed the call for intensified efforts in implementing crucial projects.

It was co-convened by Minister of Trade and Industry, Sosten Gwengwe, representing the public sector and Edith Jiya representing the private sector.

On implementation of the National Services Export Strategy, Gwengwe said Malawi is positioning herself to move from a mere consuming nation to a producing and exporting one.

According to Gwengwe, this transition is propelled by a tax regime designed to foster a thriving private sector.

The forum discussed the position of energy projects, payment of tax refunds, logistical challenges facing the country’s businesses, establishment of Mega Farms and scarcity of foreign exchange.
