MEC takes parties through new electoral provisions
With only 11 months to the General Elections, the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has warned against using government resources during political campaigns.
MEC Chief Elections Officer, Andrew Mpesi, says the act is prohibited as far as new electoral laws are concerned.
Mpesa says those holding government positions will only be allowed to use their privileged resources such as a vehicle, driver and security as this is their privilege while they are serving their positions.
He said this during a consultative meeting with the Multiparty Liaison Committee in Balaka District where MEC was disseminating newly gazetted electoral laws.
