National Director for World Vision, Francis Duwe, has commended Senior Chief Kayembe for creating a conducive environment for the organisation to implement its projects.
Duwe particularly highlighted Kayembe’s significant role in the fight against early marriages.
Duwe made the remarks during a welfare ceremony for World Vision’s Lipiri Area Programme, where Senior Chief Kayembe was specially recognised for his exemplary leadership in the area.
Deputy Minister of Education, Nancy Chaola Mdooko, noted that the country has greatly benefited from various projects that World Vision has implemented in the Lipiri area of Dowa District, with the reduction in early marriages being just one of the many positive impacts.
Senior Chief Kayembe expressed that although World Vision is concluding its work in the area, it has left an indelible mark, as the projects were designed not only to provide immediate assistance but also to teach the community sustainable skills.
World Vision’s initiatives included improving the quality of education, providing clean water by installing 129 boreholes, promoting girl-child education to combat early marriages, economic empowerment, and supporting safe motherhood.
