President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has emphasized the importance of participating in the ongoing voter registration exercise, encouraging eligible Malawians to register to vote in next year’s general election.
Speaking at Mtakataka ADMARC ground in Senior Chief Kachindamoto’s area during a Whistle Stop development tour, Dr Chakwera said registering will empower citizens to exercise their right to elect leaders of
their choice.
The president also highlighted government’s efforts to support economic and youth empowerment, pointing out that at least 300,000 young people have benefitted from soft loans.
He said government is distributing relief aid to those affected by hunger, urging those involved in the distribution to uphold fairness, transparency, and accountability.
Senior Chief Kachindamoto expressed gratitude to President Chakwera for his visit and appealed for expedited food aid distribution to support affected households.
Earlier, Dedza East legislator Patrick Bandawe asked government to consider establishing Mtakataka as a sub-district to improve local governance and access to services.
