University of the Western Cape are the champions of the CAF Champions League COSAFA qualifiers after defeating Gaborone United Ladies 9-8 in a penalty shootout after the game ended 1-1 in regulation time at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre.
This was the first time Malawi hosted the regional showpiece.
COSAFA will be represented by two teams in this year’s continental competition with Western Cape as the COSAFA champions and Mamelodi Sundowns, the reigning CAF Champions League champions.
