UNICEF remains committed to improve child services in Malawi

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), through its partner Gavi, has donated three brand new Toyota land cruiser vehicles and 3,000 bicycles worth K1.2 billion to the Ministry of Health to assist in the child vaccination campaign.

Shadrack Omol, Malawi’s UNICEF representative, said they will continue supporting Malawi’s health sector since health is key to national development and the realisation of the 2063 agenda.

Minister of Health, Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda, welcomed the donation, saying it will ease mobility challenges faced by Health Surveillance Assistants who are championing the child vaccination campaign.

The Malawi Government is running an expanded programme on immunisation, facilitated by the World Health Organisation to ensure access to life – saving vaccines for every child world wide.
