Malawi’s Representative for its Permanent Mission to the UN, Agnes Chimbiri Molande, says the forthcoming 79th session of the UN General Assembly is an opportunity for nations to strategize for future generations.
Speaking ahead of the assembly, which President Lazarus Chakwera is set to attend, Molande says the discussions will focus on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)’ progress and Malawi’s interest will be to align them with the 2063 agenda.
She said Dr Chakwera’s attendance is vital as the assembly will explore solutions for enhancing food security, which is another key issue for Malawi.
Dr Chakwera will host the Malawi Partners Conference 2024, bringing together investors to discuss the country’s potential in food production.
The UN General Assembly runs from 20th to 27th September 2024.
