The Transformative Leadership Programme (TLP) has been described as a game changer in the transformation of education.
LEAP Africa Executive Director, Kehinde Ayeni, was speaking in Blantyre at the opening of a three-day international refresher training for 27 outstanding teacher mentors.
Ayeni said it was pleasing to note that the programme has helped to address the capacity needs of teachers who were lacking motivation in managing the leadership potential of their students.
The TLP initiative was introduced in 2018 by LEAP Africa and is being implemented in partnership with CAMFED, with funding from the Mastercard Foundation.
As part of the programme, 860 teacher mentors and 16,329 scholars are exposed to the skills and mindsets required for transformative leadership.
The programme is being implemented across Ghana, Malawi, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Uganda.
