The Ministry of Trade and Industry says it will introduce a new policy, which will see it issuing licences to traders in the distributor category in the country.
Minister of Trade and Industry Sosten Gwengwe said this at Chankhanga Community Ground in Kasungu during commemorations of the World Consumer Rights Day.
Gwengwe said currently, the distributors were doing self regulation, which has not helped Malawians for a long time, as evidenced by unfair prices of sugar on the market.
Gwengwe said through the licences, distributors will be subjected within the laws under the Ministry of Trade and licences will be revoked for those who will not comply.
