District Information Officers have been urged to do more in writing and telling stories about various issues that are making an impact within the communities.
MBC Director of News and Programmes Zilani Khonje Phiri has made the commitment in Dowa following a three day workshop on news production for radio.
According to Khonje, DIOs should make use of MBC, being a public broadcaster, to keep the citizenry informed about social economic and political developments happening in their respective jurisdiction.
Khonje cited various platforms on MBC which can be used by DIOs in changing the people’s perspective regarding issues affecting them.
The workshop has been jointly organized by the Ministry of Information with support from the National Local government and Finance Committee NLGFC.
It has attracted about 28 DIOs drawn from across the country.
