SERIAL OFFENDER APPREHENDED FOR BURGLARY, THEFT IN MONKEY-BAY

Police in Monkey Bay have apprehended Muhammad Jumbe, 48, for suspected burglary and theft in the district.

According to Monkey Bay Police Station Public Relations Officer, Alice Sichali, officers on patrol with community members encountered Jumbe carrying a large sack believed to contain stolen goods on the night of February 8, 2024, in Sumbi area.

Upon interrogation, Jumbe confessed to breaking into a shop at Sumbi Trading Center and making off with items valued at K301,000.

Police investigations revealed that Jumbe forced entry into the shop through its upper door.

Jumbe, a resident of Kalinga Village in Traditional Authority Makanjira, Mangochi District, faces charges of burglary and will soon appear in court.
