Scope Malawi is set to implement a project aimed at restoring landscape resilience in school communities in Dedza and Lilongwe districts, in a bid to enhance food security in schools.
Scope Malawi’s National Coordinator, Chifundo Khokwa, said that the three-year project will be carried out across ten schools in the two districts.
“The aim is to increase food security in schools and improve soil structures, ensuring a healthy and abundant landscape. We will be working with the Ministry of Education structures, and the project’s total cost is €638,000, approximately K1.1 billion,” Khokwa said.
Dedza District Council’s Chief Agriculture Officer, Matrida Mtambo, urged the organisation to collaborate with agricultural extension workers to achieve the intended goals.
Mtambo noted that Scope Malawi had presented their project to the council, highlighting its focus on land restoration.
“We have advised them to engage with stakeholders before implementation. It is important to coordinate with the relevant sectors to achieve the project’s objectives and align with the district council’s goals,” she said.
