Ministry of Justice says the nation deserves well drafted laws that address challenges such as corruption, accelerating service delivery and empowering communities.
The minister responsible Titus Mvalo made the remarks in Lilongwe when he opened a training session on Foundational Legislative Drafting which is being facilitated by the Chandler Institute of Justice (CIJ).
The training seeks to equip lawyers in the public sector with skills on how to draft modern laws that are effective and easy to interpret.
The Minister said the training by CIJ is very timely, noting that they have been unable to send lawyers for refresher skills on law drafting due to understaffing.
Executive Director of Chandler Institute, Ron Chari, said well drafted laws make it easy for government to function and easily translate policy issues.
30 government lawyers are undergoing the two week training.
