Private Schools Association of Malawi (PRISAM) has urged the Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) to speed up disbursement of centre fees.
In a statement to all secondary school heads, MANEB affirms that disbursement of centre fees, payable to secondary schools for examination administration purposes, has been delayed.
“The delay is due to logistical challenges beyond MANEB’s control. However, MANEB is actively working on resolving this issue, and disbursement will occur soon, ” reads the statement in part.
Meanwhile, PRISAM President, Ernest Kaonga, has said the delay puts private schools in a fix.
“Our friends in government schools are not affected because they are provided with mobile labs while for private schools, we rely on this money,” said Kaonga.
Kaonga further said the longer the delay, the harder it will be for private schools to get the required materials for examinations.
“This is a big challenge to private schools…the materials requested this year are very expensive compared to previous years that’s why we are urging MANEB to speed up the disbursement process of the centre fee,” added Kaonga.
